In this “Elevator Sneakers: 1-year follow-up review” we cover how the 2 pairs of Lyrashoes faired after a heavy and not so heavy use. we’ve worked with Lyrashoes for so many years that the number of reviews of their elevator sneakers is too large to sum it up in my head.
Our previous Lyrashoes project ,which is an entire brand guide, was written this year. So, we decided why not review some of their past collections we’ve already used, and see how they aged when looking back on them.

The topic I’ll analyze today is how long Lyrashoes sneakers really last and how they held up after 1 year of heavy use. In this blog post, I’ll cover the following:
Their Overall Longevity
How the Sneakers Age
The 5cm platform
The Material Quality
The Long-Term Value
Elevator sneakers: 1-year follow-up review- sneakers’ Longevity
Responsibility has become a significant trend for Lyrashoes lately. As a result, they’ve tried to prolong the life cycle of their shoes, focusing on their sustainability. Lyrashoes often change their approaches rather than adapting not-working methods.
For instance, their sneakers used to be made in a large factory in Asia. However, the founders soon rebranded life and relocated the production process into a tiny workshop in their neighborhood. This way, they could pay $5 per pair more, but focus on the ethical and eco-friendly production of their shoes.
How Their Sneakers Age
I have some Lyrashoes sneakers that I wear every day for the elevator sneaker review. Others are for special occasions. These two groups wear quite differently within a year or so, so I hope this will give you a picture of how they age.
Here is a comparison of indoor and outdoor elevator sneakers after 1 year of use!
Elevator sneakers review: Everyday Beaters
What is the point of doing elevator sneakers 1-year follow-up review? Most review blogs only show sneakers when they’re pristine out of the box. It’s rare to see how they actually hold up over time. Since I’ve reviewed so many Lyrashoes, I decided to revisit my most-worn pairs.
The popular white sneakers looked great when new, but I pretty much live in them for running daily errands. I’m not exactly gentle with them either – I’m really neglectful with my heavy-rotation kicks.
Even so, the high-quality white leather has held up beautifully and still looks fresh with some care. The soles show obvious wear but are far from needing a resole anytime soon.
All-occasions sneakers
I also wear the Lyrashoes sneakers a lot for active use. Unlike the sports shoes, they’re not made for adventures, but they hold up pretty well!
For this 1-year elevator shoes review, I wore them daily while exploring cities in Europe, and for muddy yard work and dog walking. Despite the abuse, they’ve never let in any moisture and the soles are still going strong. The leather has taken a beating, but still looks good.
Elevator sneakers after 1 year of heavy use held up pretty well.
Fancy Occasions
As I mentioned earlier, in this elevator sneakers review I am reviewing both sneakers that I use daily and the ones I use rarely for special occasions. For special events like weddings or parties, I rock the special occasion Lyrashoes sneakers-the white leather really pops. I’ve only worn these 3-4 times though, so they live in my closet.
The leather does crease naturally, which is normal. To minimize that, I store them in their bags to prevent dust.
For any big event where you want to flex some style, Lyrashoes are ideal. Properly cared for, they stay flawless or even improve over time. The materials age beautifully! Just check the difference between the shoes I wore outside vs the ones I kept inside.
Reviewing elevator shoes key aspect: 5cm elevator soles
After having these elevator shoes for 1 year, I can easily say that with their durable construction, Lyrashoes sneakers can easily be worn for years. Lyrashoes use quality rubber soles that are already very durable. Since resoling is rarely needed, it has little impact on the sneakers’ lifetime.
After 1 year with these sneakers, the platform is still stable and the shoe feels comfortable to wear. I have reviewed multiple elevator sneakers and the majority of other brands or shoes have sinked quite a lot even after a few months of use, so this is definitely a big plus for Lyrashoes.
Elevator sneakers, 1-year follow-up review: Material Quality after 1 year
When I first started reviewing elevator sneakers and specifically Lyrashoes, all their sneakers used basic synthetic materials. Good stuff, but Lyrashoes guys have since stepped it up tremendously.
Now they use environmentally-certified leathers and foams for superior comfort and minimal impact.
Their materials come from eco-friendly suppliers who follow strict regulations on traceability, chemical policies, emissions, water/energy use, and worker treatment. Just take a look at the material after 1 year of heavy use. In my humble opinion they have done very well considering that I wore them in the winter and in the snow on a daily basis.
Elevator sneakers review: Sustainable Future
In line with that philosophy, Lyrashoes is actively exploring cutting-edge, bio-based materials for the future, steering clear of plastic-derived synthetics.
For example, they’re interested in vegan leather, but it’s not yet ready for high-performance sneaker use. Rest assured, they’ll keep pushing the boundaries to lower their environmental footprint.
Incredible Value
Lyrashoes aims to deliver unbeatable quality at a fair price – and in my experience, they overdeliver. Their sneakers start at just $60 yet can last for years with basic care.
By producing long-lasting goods and operating responsibly, they drastically cut waste and emissions too. Their focused line-up minimizes excess production, while longevity reduces the need for frequent replacement.
In fact, extending a product’s life by just 9 months can reduce its carbon footprint by 20-40%! Lyrashoes is actively seeking ways to lower their toll.
Final Thoughts for this elevator sneakers review
While brands often talk about “disrupting” industries, Lyrashoes walks the walk when it comes to sustainable, ethical practices backed by quality you can see and feel.
Their sneakers are accessible priced yet offer years of stellar performance if cared for properly. Even when neglected, they develop a good aged look while holding their comfort.
After this elevator sneakers review, I can say that Lyrashoes truly brings something different – and better – to the sneaker world. I’m excited to see how they continue innovating their offerings and processes.
